Best of the Big Guns

Jarrod Croker (CTW, $14,900)
Rd 3 Opponent: Knights
Croker is the Raiders best attacking option and a proven fantasy gun. Given how terrible the Knights defence has been thus far, expect Canberra to stroll through and score plenty of tries.
Predicted Score: 70-90

Ben Hunt (HFB, $15,600)
Rd 3 Opponent: Panthers
Hunt has started off sluggish and off-the-pace so far in 2016. He is still Brisbane’s chief playmaker and will get more ball with Gillett, Roberts and Boyd being Brisbane’s strike weapons on the right-hand side.
Predicted Score: 58+

Trent Merrin (2RF/FRF, $14,900)
Rd 3 Opponent: Broncos
Merrin has posted two scores of 70 and 60 in rounds 1 & 2, respectively. He has increased minutes compared to 2015 and the bookie’s have Penrith keeping this close in a tight, low-scoring game – so expect Merrin to increase his workload and get a plethora of base stats.
Predicted Score: 77

Sam Burgess (2RF/FRF, $16,300)
Rd 3 Opponent: Dragons
How can you not pick Sam Burgess? The Englishman has returned from Rugby better than expected and dominated the competition. Granted these were easy games for Souths, he is still threatening the line and producing damaging runs every set. He’s a must play and captain lock. Look for Sam to go close to his average of 91.5 once again.
Predicted Score: 82-88

Aaron Woods (FRF, $14,300)
Rd 3 Opponent: Titans
Don’t be fooled, Aaron Woods is a monster fantasy scorer in 2016. He’s averaged 67 in two games that had over 50 points in them! He’s getting huge minutes (over an hour) and is the go-to-guy in the pack. The Tigers are still a young, up-and-down side, and their attacking thrust will burn out sooner rather than later. Expect their first away trip of the season be the catalyst for a scratchy performance. The total points will be low and Woods will eat up the runs and tackle stats.
Predicted Score: 76

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (FLB, $18,900)
Rd 3 Opponent: Storm
As with the whole Warriors side, Roger has underperformed in 2 games. We could have just as easily picked Shaun Johnson here, but I feel Roger will take on more responsibility from kick returns and support play around the ruck. The Warriors always dominate the Storm through the forwards and this will be no different. RTS to directly benefit from Issac’s pace out of dummy-half and second-phase offloads.
Predicted Score: 90

Value Picks

Agnatius Paasi (FRF, $9,400)
Rd 3 Opponent: Tigers
Paasi has played so well this season that Ryan James is now on the bench! He runs hard and always threatens to break the line with an offload. He’ll be a lock for 15 runs and 15 tackles in what will be a tight game.
Predicted Score: 50

Ben Barba (FLB/FE, $7,100)

Rd 3 Opponent: Manly
Barba looks fit, fast and excited about playing Footy again. He helped tear up the Dragons left-hand edge in the back end of the first half. Not quite at his best, Barba will continue to improve and is a steal at $7K for the tremendous upside and potential ceiling.
Predicted Score: 50+
